Streets of Debrecen

Our Spring exhibit features photographs by Viktor Löki.

Born June 9, 1989, Viktor Löki is a Hungarian photographer. He was born in Debrecen, the second-largest city of Hungary, which is also one of the sister cities of New Brunswick. In order to make a comprehensive and geographically totally representative photo series of his hometown, two years ago he decided to thematically take at least one aesthetically well-formed photograph of every street in Debrecen. Although the total number of streets in Debrecen is 1796, by 2020, he had already taken pictures of one-third (598) of the streets. His project became popular very quickly, and now thousands of people are following his work on Facebook and Instagram. He has held four individual exhibitions in the city. By going forward with this creative pace, all of the streets will be done by beginning of 2024.
